Currently in the testing phase in India, this new feature of Google Maps may soon allow users to be alerted directly on their smartphone in the event of an unexpected detour by a taxi driver. For a few days now, the application has been experimenting with the Stay Safer tool, which allows you to enter a route, and to be automatically notified if the driver makes a mistake, or makes a voluntary detour. A new feature discovered by XDA Devlopers, and highlighted by The Verge website, which should reassure more than one on the road, while limiting possible scams.
